Cloud Office Systems Usage Tiny but Growing
Gartner reports that 50 million enterprise workers are using cloud-based office systems. While the number sounds impressive, it represents only eight percent of all office system users. The vast majority of workers are still firing up the applications installed on their desktop or laptop computer when using a word processor or spreadsheet.
Cloud-based office systems were first introduced in 2007. As reported in a recent issue of Processor Magazine, Gartner expects cloud office system usage to climb to 33 percent by 2017.
In the early days of cloud office systems, Gartner reports, users needed only PC access to their cloud-based functionality and data. In the coming years, users will expect to be able to work in the cloud using their personal PC, company PC, tablet, and smartphone.
Knowing users’ expectations makes software marketing easier.
